The purpose of the Missions and Social Concerns committee is to find opportunities for each person in our faith community to use his or her gifts for ministry outside the walls and congregation of Rosemount UMC, and to support and encourage each one along the way. Missions and Social Concerns is the organizing force behind projects on a local and national and international level which strive to bring healing to torn lives and the gospel to those who have never heard it. Our projects range from meeting local needs - through foodshelf drives or upkeep on a transitional housing home - to sending work teams to foreign countries. We also help in the allocation of Missions funding. The people of Rosemount UMC support missionaries, prepare one meal each month at the Simpson Homeless Shelter, and contribute to other important causes. Our committee suggests recipients for special offerings and follows through to make sure the money gets to the designated locations. We also recommend to the Ad Council uses for the interest off the Mission Tithe Fund each year. This fund is a trust fund, which was set up during the 1988 building campaign. Mobility Worldwide (formerly P.E.T.)
Mobility Worldwide is a faith-based, volunteer-powered, humanitarian, and world-wide organization. Our goal is the Gift of Mobility for all of Godís people in need. We will cooperate and share with anyone working toward that goal. We seek to involve lay persons in the Church as major servants in this mission. We want to work with all groups, religious or secular and seek to provide mobility first for those in greatest need and with least resources.
